The Trial of the Chicago 7

Chicago 1968 saw the Democratic Party Convention be protested by activists such as Students for a Democratic Society, a moderate group led by Tom Hayden, and militant Yippies, led by Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman. This led to violence with local authorities. Seven of the seven accused ringleaders were arraigned for Conspiracy by hostile Nixon Administration charges, which include Bobby Seale, Black Panthers, who wasn’t involved in the incident. The belligerent Judge Hoffman (No relationship) presides over the unfair trial. Richard Schultz, a reluctant but still duty-bound prosecutor, is also involved. Their pro bono attorneys face so many odds that Hayden and his colleagues are dissatisfied by the Yippies’ outrageous antics, undermining the defense of their system in defiance while Seale is denied the chance to defend his own. The Chicago 7 and Seale clash over their political ideologies, but they discover they are inseparable in this battle. –Kenneth Chisholm ([email protected])
