Saving Private Ryan
The 2nd Ranger Battalion, under the command of Cpt. Miller fights ashore for a beachhead. Two brothers die in the midst of fighting. A third brother was also killed in action earlier in New Guinea. Their mother Mrs. Ryan will receive the three grave telegrams simultaneously. George C. Marshall (the United States Army Chief Of Staff) is given the opportunity to ease some of his mother’s grief by learning of Private James Ryan. He decides to send 8 soldiers (Cpt. Miller, along with select 2nd Rangers members, set out to locate him and return him to his mother. –J.Zelman
