In the Heart of the Sea

The winter of 1820 saw the New England whaling vessel Essex being attacked by something that no one believed: A whale with a mammoth size, will and almost human-like sense of revenge. Herman Melville would be inspired to write Moby-Dick about the real-life maritime catastrophe. That was only half of the story. The harrowing events of the encounter are revealed in “In the Heart of the Sea”, which reveals the crew’s struggle to survive. The men must overcome despair, starvation and panic to survive, and their captain will search for guidance on open water while his first mate tries to save the whale.
