Catch the Bullet

BRITT MacMASTERS is a U.S. A U.S. Marshal, who is known for not bringing them back alive very often, comes home on the trail and discovers that his 12-year old son, CHAD has been abducted by JED BLAKE’s gang. Britt is enlisted the assistance of CHASKA the Indian guide and CLAY TUCKER the prejudiced deputy, who don’t trust him, as he sets off into Sioux territory. Jed is able to lure the Marshal into a deadly trap, finding the boy captive a powerful and slippery opponent. Chad receives vicious beatings and a surprise tree branch that he has to look into Jed’s eyes. Jed is furious at the prospect of Sioux warriors threatening him, and his bloody injuries make him feel like he’s on the verge of insane. Tucker’s racist attitudes towards Britt’s Indian friend are challenged as the search party continues to move deeper into Red Desert. Chaska rescues Tucker from an almost fatal encounter with a Sioux warrior’s knife. Britt race against the clock to save his son from being killed by the insane outlaw, despite both parties succumbing brutally to scalped heads and attacks. Jed, fearing that the Marshal might have fallen to the soldiers, continues his madness spiraling and he gives his pistol to the young prisoner for “Catch the Bullet.” Unseen Britt replies to Chad before he can respond: “I’ll have a game with you.” Jed finds himself face-to-face with his foe, trembling in crazed joy. –Jerry Robbins
