Young Ones

In a future where water is the most valuable and depleting resource on Earth, this scenario will dictate everything. This includes the macro and micro aspects of personal and intimate relationships as well as the macro and macro policies. It has become a pathetic place. The planet has become a barren, lonely place. Hardened survivors from the destruction of Earth’s valuable resources struggle to survive. Ernest Holm (Michael Shannon), lives in this harsh frontier along with his two children Jerome (Kodi Smit McPhee)and Mary (Elle Fanning). He defends his farm against bandits and works the supply routes. His goal is to revive the soil. Flem Lever, Mary’s boyfriend (Nicholas Hoult), is more ambitious. Ernest wants Ernest’s land and will do anything to obtain it. A futuristic western from Jake Paltrow, written and directed in three chapters. It cleverly layers Greek tragedy with an ethereal narrative steeped in American West values. Laurent Boye
