Watchmen

In an alternate world, it’s 1985. The Watchmen consists of Dr. Manhattan and Dr. Manhattan as well as Ozymandias II, Dr. Manhattan, Dr. Manhattan, Rorschach, Silk Spectre II and Silk Owl II. They are a diverse group of masked heroes, modeled on the Minutemen who were masked super-heroes of a previous generation. Most of them are either dead or afflicted with the ravages life. Both groups include the Comedian. Nixon outlawed masks after the Watchmen’s activities led to the West winning Vietnam War, which kept Richard Nixon in power. Many Watchmen are now retired and have resigned from their Watchmen identities. The Comedian is now working for the government as Dr. Manhattan and Jon Osterman, a former physicist who gained his superhuman powers by a scientific accident that almost ended his life. Because Dr. Manhattan is capable of stopping any nuclear attack, his powers have helped keep an eye on nuclear proliferation. The Cold War remains at its peak with Soviet rhetoric regarding nuclear bomb buildingup. Silk Spectre II, Dr. Manhattan’s human avatar Laurie Jupiter, is Silk Spectre II’s lover and assistant, in as much Dr. Manhattan’s non-human form as possible. Ozymandias is now known as Adrian Veidt. He has used his Ozymandias name to improve the world. Rorschach, despite being wanted by law, continues to act as a vigilante despite the fact that so many criminals are in prison. Rorschach believes that Blake was murdered by the killer and is the last one on the streets. This despite the fact that many people want to murder the Comedian because he is a misogynist. There is evidence that it may have something to do the imminent nuclear attack. Rorschach must convince his coworkers, whom he hasn’t seen since superhero days, that his theory is valid. This can be a difficult task. They will need to uncover the identities of the Comedian’s killer and the reasons for their actions before they suffer the same fate or the mastermind can execute his grand scheme. –Huggo
