The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)

Clopin, the puppeteer, tells the story about Quasimodo the mishapen, but kind-hearted bell ringer at Notre Dame. He was almost killed by Claude Frollo the Minister of Justice. Frollo, however was ordered by the Archdeacon de Notre Dame to adopt Quasimodo. Frollo hides Quasimodo from the rest of the world in the belltower at the cathedral. Quasimodo is cheered by Victor, Hugo and Laverne as he participates in the Festival of Fools. There, he meets Esmeralda, a beautiful gypsy girl, and Phoebus, a handsome soldier. They find themselves in conflict with Frollo and his cruelty to the Court of Miracles, which is the home of the Gypsies. Quasimodo has to defend Esmeralda as well as Notre Dame’s cathedral. –Kathy Li
