The Holiday
Iris Simpkins, a London-based journalist who writes a column about weddings in the newspaper, has a unrequited relationship with Jasper Bloom. She is told by Jasper Bloom that Jasper has been engaged to another colleague near Christmas. Her life is turned upside down. Amanda Woods, a movie trailer maker in Los Angeles has recently split from her boyfriend Ethan. She wants to move on with her life. Amanda swaps her house for Iris’ cottage in Surrey through a house-exchange website. Amanda is able to meet Graham, Iris’ brother and book editor while she’s in Surrey. They fall in love. Iris also meets Arthur, a ninety-year-old screenwriter, her next-door neighbor, who assists her in restoring her self-esteem and Miles, the film composer, with whom she falls for. –Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
