The Guilt Trip

Andrew Brewster, an organic chemist based in Los Angeles has spent his entire life saving to develop and market a home-cleaning product that is safe for the environment and humans. He is still having trouble selling the product to retailers and distributors despite these strengths. To make sales pitches for various companies, he has planned to drive across the country via his automobile. He will start in New York City and end in Las Vegas. Andy will be staying in New York with Joyce Brewster (New Jersey resident), with whom he shares a hate/love relationship. Because he isn’t willing to share with her about his past sales mistakes, he realizes she won’t add anything more than two cents. Which he does not want. Joyce is focused on Andy’s unmarried status, and his seemingly stalled romance life. He wants Joyce to remain there. Joyce was 8 years old when Andy died. She has not remarried, or dated, and she doesn’t want to have to deal with the criticisms of someone else in her life. Andy would like to be able to work with both men and make them happy so she can focus more on her life than his. Andy is about to leave New Jersey when Joyce confides in him her secret past relationships. He invites Joyce to join him on his trip to San Francisco, where they can revisit their past. Joyce agrees. Andy and Joyce might gain a greater understanding through the trials and tribulations of their journey. They may also learn more about their relationship and Andy’s business failures. –Huggo
