The Great Gilly Hopkins is a film about a feisty foster child’s bizarre plan to be reunited her birth mother. It is an enjoyable movie for all the family. Gilly Hopkins (Sophie Nelisse), has been to more foster homes than she can count and outwitted all her family members. Gilly devises a scheme to get away from Maime Trotter (Kathy Bates), her foster mother. Gilly is shocked when her plan unravels in front of her. It threatens to destroy the chance to have a family. The Great Gilly Hopkins is based on Katherine Paterson’s award-winning novel for young adults (Bridge to Terabithia), and stars Sophie Nelisse with Kathy Bates, Bill Cobbs, Bill Magnussen, Bill Cobbs, and Julia Stiles.
