The Butler

Cecil Gaines, a son of a sharecropper and domestic servant who was casually killed by his white family in 1920s England, was born to Cecil Gaines. Cecil eventually sets himself free and becomes a valet in a hotel. He is so efficient in his discreet manner that in 1950s he was made a White House butler. Cecil served many US presidents as an observer of history, even though his own family was having its problems. His wife Gloria struggles with addictions, and Louis his eldest son strives to make the world a better place.
