The Bridges of Madison County
Francesca Johnson (Meryl Steep) seems set for the future, but then she encounters an unexpected turn in her path that forces her to question all of what she has come to expect. Robert Kincaid (Clint Eastwood), her husband, and their children go to the Illinois State Fair during the summer 1965. Francesca asks Robert for directions to Roseman Bridge. Francesca learns later that Kincaid was visiting Iowa for an assignment by National Geographic Magazine. He is reluctant to meet her, but she eventually agrees. She then talks to him about her past as a war-bride from Italy. This sets the stage for the bittersweet and brief romance that she has with him. She writes about the painful separation she felt from her secret lover and how she felt as she was isolated by the details of her own life. After Francesca died, her lawyer went through Francesca’s will. The contents were scanned and scanned by the lawyers. This revealed a key that led to Robert and her bedroom. They take the diary’s message as a reminder to think about what it is that you need to do in order to live a happy life. The children learn that Robert Kincaid died in cremation and were cremated off Roseman Bridge. Their mother asked that her cremated remains be scattered on Roseman Bridge. This is the story about a rare love, which can only happen once in your lifetime, if you are lucky. Mark Fleetwood
