Sunset Boulevard

Joe Gillis, a obscure screenplay writer in Hollywood in the 1950’s is unable to sell his works to studios. He is also full of debts. He is trying to get out of his creditors and has a flat tire. His car then parks in Sunset Boulevard’s luxurious mansion. He is introduced to Norma Desmond who was a former star of silent movies. She lives with Max Von Mayerling, her driver and butler. Norma believes that she will be able to return to cinema. She is protected from the outside world by Max Von Mayerling, her husband and director in the past, but still loves her. Joe is proposed by Norma to help her write a screenplay to her return to cinema. Joe becomes her friend and gigolo. Joe is infatuated with Betty Schaefer (a young writer aspirant), and Norma soon becomes mad and jealous. This leads to a terrible end. –Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
