Honey Boy
Alma Har’el, an award-winning filmmaker, brings to life the story of a troubled young actor’s turbulent childhood. Har’el fictionalizes his childhood’s rise to stardom and adult fall-landing in rehab and recovery. He casts Noah Jupe as Otis Lort and Lucas Hedges, navigating through different phases of a hectic career. LaBeouf plays a version his father, an ex rodeo clown turned felon. It is a challenging and rewarding role. FKA Twigs, an artist and musician makes her feature film debut. She plays the role of a neighbor and kindred spirit for Otis’ younger brother in their motel garden home. Har’el’s narrative feature debut, which explores art as medicine as well as imagination as hope, is an extraordinary collaboration between subject and filmmaker.
