Spartacus
A revolt is started by a Thracian Slave at a Gladiatorial School run by Sir Peter Ustinov in 73 B.C. Soon, the revolt spreads to other parts of Italy and involves thousands of slaves. It was planned to raise enough money to buy ships from Silesian pirates, who would then be able to transport the slaves to other areas from Brandisium to the south. Roman Senator Gracchus (Charles Laughton), plans to have Marcus Publius Glabrus, Commander of the garrison in Rome, command an army against Vesuvius’ slaves. After Glabrus defeats his mentor Senator and General Marcus Licinius Crassus, Sir Laurence Olivier), is embarrassed and starts his army against the slaves. Spartacus, along with thousands of slaves freed from slavery, successfully made their way to Brandisium to confront the Silesians. Then they turn north to face the power of Rome. –garykmcd
