Space Station 76

Space Station 76, an orbiting refuelling satellite located near an alternate reality Earth in 1976 is called “Space Station 76”. Jessica is the first woman to join Space Station 76. As she tells a story about her love for the predictability and asteroids, some calmly drifting asteroids collide in chain-reaction fashion. Although the station looks normal at first, Jessica quickly discovers the problems that people are having with the stress and isolation of living in such a small area far away from Earth. These problems are in addition to the normal issues people deal with such as loneliness, infidelity and drug addiction. Although she tries to fit in and make new friends, her inability to communicate with others makes it difficult for her to feel secure. The irritable and stiff Captain Glenn is causing her to become confused and demoralized. He also has his secrets. Ted, a single, married crewman and his 7-year-old daughter Sunshine, are what she finds attractive. Ted longs for a reunion with Misty his miserable, severely medicated wife. But she is too busy to reply and driving him away. Sunshine, his daughter, struggles with the isolation and mental illness of her mother. At a Christmas party, Misty suddenly decides that everyone should play the “Truth Game.” A celestial event shakes everything up just when things seem to be falling apart. –Ken B.
