Point Man

Three months after the Tet Offensive’s victory and one month following the assassination Martin Luther King Jr., Point Man tells the tale of an American Army fire crew that was shattered by moral and racial crises and the crushing demands of fighting in a conflict no one wants to win. Andre “Casper”, a hard-edged intellectual, discovers that his radical politics have put him in conflict with Silas Meeks, the machine gunner of the squad. Both men are pitted against Lieutenant Sutter, their stubborn platoon commander and when their search-and destroy mission in Mekong Delta turns out to be disastrous. The point men are like the flies that fly in the bush and loyalty dissolves as each step is followed by a cost.
