Platoon
Chris Taylor, a young and naive American man who leaves college to fight in Vietnam. He quickly realizes his absence is not necessary and that he is insignificant among the soldiers. This is because he hasn’t fought as much as the others and feels the consequences of combat. Two non-commissioned officers are Chris’s, Robert Barnes (ill-tempered and destructive Staff Sergeant) and Elias Grodin (friendly and more cooperative). When an illegal killing takes place during a raid on a village, a line is drawn between these NCOs as well as a group of platoon members. Chris is on the verge of a mental breakdown as the war drags on. As he fights for his survival, Chris soon discovers that he’s fighting two wars: the one with the enemy, and the other between the platoon members. –Jeremy Thomson
