Pitch Black
Space transport vessel Hunter-Gratzner carrying 40 passengers crashes onto a desert planet after it is hit by a meteor. Only 11 people survive, including pilot Carolyn Fry, who has taken command of the vessel after its captain was killed, bounty hunter William J. Johns and religious man Abu Al-Walid. The survivors are marooned and discover that the desert landscape is hot, dry, and has three suns. They must find water, food, and shelter from Riddick. The planet’s flesh-eating alien inhabitants hunt the survivors as the planet becomes dark. This happens approximately every 22 years. Fry and survivors decide that Riddick offers them the best chance at survival. Riddick’s surgically-enhanced vision allows him to see through the darkness and help them escape from the planet. –Daniel Williamson
