Young Mija (An Seo Hyun), Okja’s companion and caretaker, has lived in South Korea for 10 years. She is a large and loyal friend and a huge animal. When Mirando Corporation, a multinational family conglomerate owned by the Mirando Corporation, takes Okja and brings her to New York. There, Lucy Mirando (Tilda Sunton), is obsessed with image and has great plans for Mija. Mija embarks on her rescue mission with no plan, but a single mind. However, her daunting task quickly gets more difficult when she meets disparate capitalists and demonstrators, all trying to take Okja’s fate into their hands. Mija only wants her best friend to come home. Bong Joon Ho, Snowpiercer, The Host, blends genres with humor, poignancy, drama and comedy. She starts from the most basic of premises, the bond between man, animal, and then creates an original and multilayered view of the world which addresses all aspects of our animal nature.
