National Lampoon’s Van Wilder
Van Wilder, who has been at Coolidge College for seven years and still not having finished his degree, is considered a legend in certain circles. He is bright but doesn’t attend classes. Instead, he hosts parties and imparts his wisdom to the adoring students. Van, on the other hand, loves his Coolidge lifestyle. He has an 2ic in Hutch and hires a personal assistant every year. This is Taj from South Asia, who loves to learn from Van. Van’s future at college is in jeopardy when Wilder Sr., his rich neglectful father learns about Van. Wilder Sr. decides to end the subsidy and Van must find a means to fund his Coolidge lifestyle. Gwen Pearson is the star reporter at the college newspaper and Van ends up being the focus of several articles about him. This assignment Van would prefer not to do as she likes more hard hitting content. Gwen needs to be with Van so Richard Bagg (Gwen’s pre-med fraternity president) attempts to paint Van in bad light. He believes that Gwen is falling in love with Van. Gwen may help Van to understand why Coolidge has been so successful and where he needs to go next. –Huggo
