My Life in China

Every family has an immigration story. Everyone has seen someone leave home to seek a better future. What did they do to keep their identities? What helped them adapt to this new lifestyle? Each family has its own story. My Chinese-American history is my story. We would hear my father tell his tale about how he walked for seven days, 6 nights and then swam for four hours to Macau in order to escape communism in 1966. His tale would go unheard by me until I went to China with him.
