Lolita (1997)

Humbert was tragically and hopelessly in love early on in his adolescence with a young girl. As he matured, his fascination with “nymphets” – teenage girls who can be both a boy and girl – never waned. After obtaining a teaching job, Humbert is looking for somewhere to call home. He meets Charlotte Haze (Melanie Griffith), an annoying and pretentious woman. She seems desperate lonely but clearly feels attracted to Humbert. Humbert ignores her until he meets Lolita, her thirteen-year-old daughter (Dominique Swain), who is the same girl Humbert used to love. Humbert becomes a boarder at the Haze house and marries Charlotte to get closer to Lolita. Charlotte flees from the Haze home when she learns about Humbert’s love for her daughter. She is then killed in an automobile accident. Humbert tells Lolita about her fate and takes Lolita on an auto trip across the country. This is where they begin to grow their relationship beyond traditional borders of stepfather/step-daughter.
