Key Largo

Frank McCloud visits a neglected hotel in Key Largo, to pay tribute to his friend who was killed fighting for his unit during WW II. The hotel’s widow Nora Temple and James Temple, his father in a wheelchair, are the hosts and welcome him. But soon they find themselves locked up when Johnny Rocco and his gang take over the hotel. They will be waiting for a storm to pass. Mr. Temple hates Rocco, but because of his infirmities, can only speak with him verbally. Frank, disillusioned with the violence of war makes him reluctant to take action. However, Rocco’s treatment of Gaye Dawn (his alcoholic moll) and his complicity at the deaths Osceola Brothers, and a deputy Sheriff start to inspire McCloud to stop being Hamlet-like. –Brian Greenhalgh
