Gimme Shelter (2013)

The 16-year old streetwise Apple (Vanessa Hudgens), has not had an easy existence. June Bailey, a prostitute and addict, has been grooming her daughter, Vanessa Hudgens, to be like her. Apple is an expert on the street, alleys, and motels. But she wants more. Apple is determined, strong, resilient, and indomitable. Apple flees her mother to find her father, whom she had never met as he was just 19 years old when Apple became pregnant. Apple pleads with her Wall Street Broker father Tom Fitzpatrick, (Brendan Fraser), for her to come in. She discovers that she is pregnant after a few days of being under the care of her father. The child she meets on the train was a street kid who wants nothing to do. Because she chose to have the child, her father is forced to take her to a different home. Apple flees again and, after nearly being killed herself, is taken in by Father McCarthy (James Earl Jones), a local hospital chaplain. Apple is offered a place to live in a shelter for young pregnant women, run by Kathy Dowd (a spiritual woman). Apple makes her first tentative interactions with other young girls in similar situations and slowly starts to build a family. –MAriyah
