Footloose (1984)

A classic tale about teenage rebellion and repression, featuring a charming combination of choreography and real and moving performances. Ren McCormack, the teenager from Chicago, is in for culture shock when he and his family relocate to small Midwestern towns. Although Ren tries to be accepted, he can’t believe that he is living in an area where dancing and rock music are banned. There is however one little joy: Ariel Moore. A troubled, but beautiful, blonde, with a jealous boyfriend. A Bible-thumping minister who keeps the town dancing-free. Ren is determined to get rid of this ban, and so are his friends. However, Ren’s courage and determination to fight for the town and revive the spirit of its people will be a challenge. The drama unfolds quickly and features such well-known hits as the title song and “Let’s Hear It for the Boy”. –Anonymous
