Doctor Sleep

A tribe called “The True Knot” travels along highways throughout America in search for food and other necessities. The True Knot look innocent, mostly old and covered in polyester. They are also married to their RVs. As Dan Torrance and Abra Stone discover, the True Knot is quasi-immortal. They live off the steam that the children who have the “shining,” slowly tortured to death, produce. Dan is haunted by his childhood at the Overlook Hotel. He has drifted for many decades trying to escape the legacy of alcoholism and despair that his father left behind. He finally settles down in New Hampshire, where he finds an AA group that supports him and takes a job as a nurse at the nursing home, where his remaining “shining power” provides comfort for the dying. He is “Doctor Sleep” thanks to the help of a wise cat. Dan then meets Abra Stone who is evanescent and dazzling. It’s her extraordinary gift that awakens Dan and forces him into a fight for Abra’s survival and soul. –Stephen King
