Romantic comedy: Will Hayes is a Manhattan father of 30, who is going through a divorce. His 10-year-old daughter Maya starts asking him questions about his past marriage. Maya is curious to learn everything she can about her parents’ relationship and how they fell in love. Will is a starry-eyed, young, aspiring politician, who moved to New York in 1992 to join the Clinton campaign. Maya hears Will’s story as an idealistic, young man who learned the ropes of politics in big cities. He also recounts his relationships with three different women. Russell McCormack is Will’s friend on the campaign. Both have the same political ambitions and share similar girl issues. Will tries to make a “PG” version for his daughter, but he changes names so Maya can guess his final marriage. Will her mother Will be Will’s college sweetheart? Is she the reliable girl next door Emily? Or is she April, his confidante and longtime friend? Is she the ambitious, free-spirited journalist?
