Bowling for Columbine

America’s notoriously high number of firearm-related deaths is a sign of a nation that has not been in civil war. Michael Moore, an activist filmmaker and comedian, sets out to investigate the causes of such bloodshed. He discovers the obvious answers to this problem, such as easy access to guns, violence in the national past, violence-inducing entertainment, and poverty, are not sufficient. This is despite the fact that other cultures have similar factors but no comparable carnage. Michael Moore examines the culture of violence, fear and bigotry in America, a country with a lot of gun ownership. He also seeks out to confront powerful corporate and political interests that support this culture in order to gain their unscrupulous profit. –Kenneth Chisholm ([email protected])
