Javed Khan, a British-Pakistani college student at Luton College Arts in 1987 Britain is living with his domineering father and brother. Javed is depressed from his family’s oppressive lifestyle and feels he doesn’t have a future in hostile communities. A new friend introduced Javed the music of Bruce Springsteen. Javed feels inspired by Springsteen’s powerfully articulate connection to his feelings and is motivated to pursue his dreams using his talents. Javed makes new friends in his personal search, but he finds it difficult to get along with his father, who refuses to accept his son’s new goals.
