You Can’t Take It with You
Alice Sycamore, stenographer, is deeply in love with Tony Kirby (vice-president) of Anthony P. Kirby’s powerful business. Kirby Sr. wants to have a monopoly on the trading of weapons and must buy one more house in an area that covers twelve blocks owned by Alice’s grandparents Martin Vanderhof. Martin, however is the patriarch in an eccentric and anarchic family. The members don’t care about money and have fun making new friends. Tony proposes Alice to her, but Alice states it is mandatory that she introduce her small, lunatic family members to the more sophisticated Kirbys. Tony then decides to go visit Alice one day earlier than the planned. The inevitable clash between classes and lifestyles occurs, Sycamores are rebuffed by the Kirbys and Alice splits with Tony.
