What the Peeper Saw

This psychological thriller is stylish and dramatic, with a touch of Henry James. A widowed English writer takes a beautiful, young bride to his rural, Spanish home. Soon, she becomes obsessed with her stepson (12 years old), who has been expelled from school for mysterious offences. The boy exploits and feeds her growing paranoia. It is clear that he is an intelligent and lonely child. He is clearly a bright and lonely child. But, does he really fall prey to a neurotic mother’s overwrought imagination? Shakespeare calls him the innocent flower or the serpent beneath it. Paul Emmons
