What Maisie Knew
What Maisie Knew is a modern New York City version of Henry James’ novel. It was written by Carroll Cartwright, Nancy Doyne. The story centers on Maisie, the 7-year old girl who is caught up in a custody dispute between Suzanna (an aging rock star) and Beale, an art dealer. Beale marries Maisie’s nanny Margo in a bid to gain the advantage at court. Suzanna then decides to marry Lincoln, a local bartender and friend. Margo and Lincoln are forced to join a fight they don’t want to lose. They begin to understand Maisie’s situation and, over time, each other’s. The trio are enticed by the idea of creating their own surrogate families. They must choose whether to submit to Maisie’s will or face the wrath of their parents. –Fortissimo Films [nl]
