Tickled
David Farrier is a New Zealand-based pop culture reporter. He believes that he has found the next story after he comes across an internet video about competitive endurance tickling. This sport involves participants who are tied to their feet and have their hands and feet tickled as hard as they can. The participants are taken first-class to Los Angeles, where they spend four nights at a luxurious hotel. Participants who are suitable for the event will be young, strong males. This event takes place on a monthly schedule. David contacts Jane O’Brien Media (US-based) via Facebook to schedule an interview. David gets a reply message from Debbie J. Kuhn who declines the invitation. The message is a homophobic attack primarily against David. Debbie claims that the competition is a whole heterosexual sporting activity. She doesn’t appreciate David’s presumption that he’s gay and has written the message to say so. David is puzzled by the message, as the video shows an activity with a clearly gay feel. Even more bizarre is the fact that Debbie, on behalf Jane O’Brien’s part, continues to email David throughout the weeks explaining the messages. David’s friend Dylan Reeve joins the fray as both a researcher and eventually as co-filmmaker of a documentary about the topic. The documentary soon turns from competitive endurance tickling to the mystery world of Jane O’Brien, Debbie Kuhn and others. They learn of David’s former associates and also of their inexplicable desire to discredit Jane O’Brien Media. Jane and Debbie threaten legal action against David and Dylan and make general threats to Jane O’Brien Media. David and Dylan discover that there is indeed a subculture of tickling sexualfetishs. This includes Richard Ivey who talks with David, and who also remembers another person from the same community decades back. Jane and Debbie. –Huggo
