The Virgin Suicides
The story is told by a man of forty who relates the tale of when he was just a teenager living in suburban Detroit. He and his three friends were fascinated with the doomed Lisbon Sisters. The sisters in 1974 were 17-year-old Therese, 16 year-old Mary, 15 year old Bonnie and 13 year old Cecilia. As they attempt to unravel the story, their fascination is still strong. Their mystery sisters could only have been explained by the fact that their mother was a strict Catholic and protective parent. This story is centered on two events and their effects on the lives of the girls. Cecilia took the first step to manage her feelings about her life. The second involved Lux, Cecilia’s attempt to deal with her emotions over her life. –Huggo
