The Sapphires
1968 was the year the world changed. For four sisters, Aboriginal women from remote missions in Australia, 1968 was the year that changed their lives. Protest and rebellion erupted all over the world. Indigenous Australians were finally allowed to vote. The shock and pain of an assassination were not the only things that happened. Vietnam was the result. Dave discovers the sisters Cynthia, Gail and Julie, who are a talented talent scout with an open heart, little rhythm, but great knowledge about soul music. As Australia’s answer for ‘The Supremes,’ Dave gets the sisters their first gig and then flies them back to Vietnam where they will perform for American soldiers. The SAPPHIRES, based on true events, is a celebration of youth emotion, music, and family. Goalpost Pictures
