The Road
This is a post-apocalyptic universe, many years after the event that caused it. It has also been subject to frequent earthquakes as additional hazards. As more of the world’s natural resources disappear, it is becoming grayer. The father and son were both born in the aftermath of the apocalypse. They are now on the road and plan to hike to the coast before heading south, where they hope to find a better environment. He has also taught his son the concept of “good people”, which means they have no need to resort to cannibalism in order to live. He has two remaining bullets in his pistol and will turn them into murder/suicide if it is better for him or his son. Fuel and food are what everybody is after. His son has been taught by the man to suspect anyone he meets, including strangers, who may try to steal their food and fuel for survival. The boy may not have known much beyond this life, but he might come up with his own ideas about what it means to be a good father. The man may occasionally think of happier times before and after the apocalypse with his mother/wife. –Huggo
