The Proposal (2009)

Andrew Paxton worked as Margaret Tate’s assistant for three years. Margaret, a Canadian citizen, is facing deportation because of her expired visa. She devises a plan to marry Andrew, and he accepts, provided she promises a promotion. The couple are subject to a skeptical INS agent who vows to conduct a test on them the following Monday. Andrew planned to return home for grandma’s 90th birthday, but Margaret is able to travel with him to Sitka in Alaska, where his mom, dad and grandparents await. The family dynamics are disrupted by tensions between Andrew and his ex-girlfriend Andrew. Andrew dislikes Margaret and her past colors. Andrew is then charged with fraud by the INS. —
