The Other Side of Heaven
John H. Groberg is a middle-class Idaho Falls kid who crosses the Pacific in order to be a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint missionary on the remote Tongan islands kingdom. He did this during the 1950’s. Jean, his true love and his loving family are what he leaves behind. John writes to Jean, sharing his humorous and often hilarious stories with her. Her letters lift his spirits during difficult times. To earn trust and affection from the Tongans, John has to conquer language barriers and physical hardships.
