The Maltese Falcon
Spade and Archer are the names of San Francisco’s detective agency. This is Sam Spade and Miles Archer. Although the men may be partners, Sam does not like Miles. One night, Miss Wonderly, a knockout who goes under the name Miss Wonderly walks in to their offices and everything changes. Miles has died. Floyd Thursby is also dead. Miss Wonderly seems to be surrounded by men who are dangerous. Joel Cairo uses call cards scented with gardenia. Kasper Gutman is a man of enormous size and fake civility. Sam is the only person who can provide protection for her. He’s being investigated by police as either a murderer or a suspect in another. There are more murders to be committed, but it is all due to these men and their desire for a Maltese Falcon statuette. –J. Spurlin
