The Favourite

The 18th Century. England and France are at war. Duck racing and pineapple-eating are still popular. The throne is occupied by Queen Anne (Olivia Colman), who suffers from dementia. Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz), Anne’s close friend, governs the country while Anne struggles with her mental health. Sarah is charmed by Abigail, an Emma Stone servant. Sarah adopts Abigail and Abigail hopes to return to her aristocratic roots. Abigail, who is the Queen’s companion, steps in to help Sarah as she finds the politics of war too time-consuming. She is able to fulfil her dreams thanks to their friendship. Abigail will not allow any woman, man or politician stand in her path. –Fox Searchlight Pictures
