The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Daisy Williams, nee Fuller, is dying in New Orleans on the same day as Hurricane Katrina. Caroline, her adult daughter is by her side. Daisy requests Caroline to read aloud to her the journal of Benjamin Button, Daisy’s long-time friend. Benjamin’s journal recounts his extraordinary life. The most unusual part of his story is his ageing backwards. He was diagnosed at birth with multiple aging diseases and given very little chance to survive, although he does live and becomes more youthful with each passing day. After Benjamin’s birth, Thomas Button left him behind. Benjamin was adopted by Queenie who is a caregiver in a senior home. Daisy met Benjamin when her grandmother, Daisy’s grandmother, was a resident of that senior home. They have been separated throughout the years but remain close friends and reconnect in their 40s when they match up. Caroline can’t read some of Benjamin’s revelations, particularly as they relate to Daisy growing older, and Benjamin becoming younger. –Huggo
