The Bridge on the River Kwai

In WW II, POWs from the Allies are sent to a Japanese Interment Camp to construct a bridge for the Burma–Siam Railway. They instinctively want to destroy the bridge but Colonel Nicholson convinces them that the bridge is necessary to improve morale and spirit. The prisoners initially admire Nicholson’s bravery in enduring torture to preserve his principles. But they soon realize that the bridge is a memorial to Nicholson and a way of working with the enemy. –alfiehitchie
