The Beguiled (2017)
In 1864, three years after the American Civil War ended, Miss Martha Farnsworth’s Seminary for Young Ladies still exists. It is occupied by the matriarch and five Spanish-moss-draped Virginia students. A young student comes across Corporal John McBurney who is a Union deserter wounded and on the brink of his death. The already fragile balance of affairs will be disturbed when the headmistress, reluctantly, decides to admit him to the school to treat the injury. As the unexpected guest causes a frenzied sexual excitement among the girls of the isolated boarding school, they soon find themselves in a race for the affections of the attractive man. This handsome, manipulative devil will undoubtedly charm the women, but they won’t be able to resist his charming charm forever. –Nick Riganas
