The Apartment (1960)
C.C. is mild-mannered as of the 1st November 1959. Baxter, a Consolidated Life employee, has worked at the Manhattan headquarters for nearly four years. In order to stand out from the rest of the lowly employees in the company and move up the corporate ladder, Baxter works late. However, this is because his apartment is located near Central Park West. He has given it to only a few company executives, Mssrs. Dobisch and Eichelberger are on a rotation basis to have extramarital relations in exchange for Jeff D. Sheldrake, Vanderhoff, Dobisch, and Kirkeby. Baxter learns from Sheldrake that it’s not just about being promoted, as he expected, but to also add Sheldrake married to the list of people to whom he will loan his apartment. Baxter is no longer requiring their help in moving up, so Eichelberger, Vanderhoff, Dobisch and Kirkeby are feeling left out. –Huggo
