Sleepless in Seattle
Sam Baldwin moves from Chicago to Seattle with his son Jonah, 8 years old, after Maggie dies. They want to get away from the pain and grief that Maggie caused. 18 months after Maggie’s death, Sam still feels the pain and cannot sleep. Jonah is still grieving his mother but he wishes his father to find a wife, even though Sam has never thought about dating again. Jonah gets Sam to speak on Christmas Eve about the perfect and magical marriage he had with Maggie and how much it still hurts. Annie Reed is a Baltimore-based journalist who falls in love solely due to Sam’s story. Annie is infatuated with Sam’s story, and Sam by association, despite her engagement. Annie is not living the dream of a happy marriage with Walter, her straight-laced fiancé. Sam even proposed to her that they meet atop Empire State Building Valentine’s Day. Sam received hundreds of mails from Seattle women seeking to meet him. Jonah was excited to receive a letter from Baltimore, and will do everything he can to bring his dad and Annie together. Old-fashioned Sam wishes his future relationship with a woman would be traditional. He falls in love with a Seattle woman that he has seen a couple of times. Sam will magic occur twice, with Annie or an unknown woman. –Huggo
