Sense and Sensibility
Tom Wilkinson plays Mr. Dashwood. He must also leave the majority of his estate to his son from his first marriage. This leaves Elinor (Dame Emma Thompson), Marianne, and Margaret (Emilie Franis) in difficult circumstances. A kind cousin takes them in, but the lack of wealth affects their marriageability. His family rejects Elinor’s attachment to Edward Ferrars (Hugh Grant) and splits them. Even though Mrs. Jennings, Elizabeth Spriggs, tries to make Elinor feel like Colonel Brandon (Alan Rickman), Marianne prefers the fiery and dashing John Willoughby (Greg Wise).
