Rio

Baby macaw Blu is taken by dealers in Rio de Janeiro and then smuggled into the USA. Blu was accidentally left behind by the truck transporting him while he drove through Moose Lake in Minnesota. Linda, a girl finds Blu and takes care of him. Blu, a well-behaved and intelligent bird who lives with Linda the owner of a bookshop fifteen years later is still a pet. Tulio visits Linda, the crass Brazilian ornithologist. He explains to Linda that Blu is the last male in his species and has a female named Jewel in Rio de Janeiro. Tulio invites Linda and Jewel to take Blu to Rio to save their species. Linda and Tulio travel with Blu to Rio de Janeiro. They leave Blu and Jewel behind in an enclosed cage at the Institute where Tulio works. While the couple are enjoying dinner together, thieves break into the institute to steal Blu and Jewel and sell them. Linda and Tulio search everywhere to find Blu who has been chained and taken to Jewel. He is then hidden in a slum. Jewel and Blu flee from their captors, and they make friends with a group bird that helps them get out of the chains. Carnival is approaching and Nigel (the smugglers) and mean cockatoo Nigel don’t intend to abandon Blu and Jewel and instead chase them through busy streets. –Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
