Reed lives a normal yuppie lifestyle, living in an apartment with Mona, his wife, and their baby girl. This is despite having a professional white collar job. Reed is driven to not just kill but also kill with an icepick. Instead of his original target, Reed chooses to murder an English-speaking prostitute as his victim. He pretends to be at a conference and so he goes away. Instead of checking into a posh hotel, he goes through all the steps of murdering his victim and then hires her through a service called Jackie. Reed doesn’t know that Jackie is planning her time with him. He believes it is because she is willing to accept his fate. It is clear that the game they play is psychological, with both the cat and the mouse. –Huggo
