Once Upon a Time in America
The vivid memories of Max and Patsy his childhood friends, who were ferociously loyal in-crime in New York’s Lower East Side during Prohibition-era New York, are still fresh in David “Noodles,” Aaronson’s mind. He is now a defeated, guilt-ridden, ex-gangster. After 35 years of exile, Noodles is unsure what to expect as he reunites with Fat Moe. The constant, unrelenting, and piercing sounds of guilt stand in his way of finding closure. Additionally, Fat Moe’s inexplicable contents of an old leather bag further complicate matters. Now, with a torn mind, the bittersweet, painful recollections from more than fifty years of love and death become intertwined. This leads to more puzzled questions. What are men’s choices when they have nothing to go? –Nick Riganas
